Paper Surgical Tape and Blisters

Long distance runners and hikers have a variety of ways to deal with blisters, but a new study out of Stanford suggests that the best method might be cheap paper surgical tape.

The study, published in Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, found that paper tape reduced blisters on marathon runners by 40 percent. The study followed 128 ultramarathoners along a 155 mile, six stage ultramarathon in 2014. Researchers randomly selected a random foot on each runner, then taped over blister-prone areas. At the end, 98 of the 128 runners didn’t develop blisters under the tape. 81 of those 128 did get blisters in untaped areas.

The Baja Walk 100 2016 The Final Donation

April 6, 2016 The Baja Walk 100 team made the final donation to the San Felipe Cancer Society. The Baja Cancer Walk 100 has been in the works for 2 years, We did it! John and Rachel Pack would like to thank all the Baja Walkers, Volunteers (THANK YOU), Carol Bro, Tom Azbell, Vicki Kahn, Elias of the Mountain Ranch, Moses and Karla Perez, and Linda Garcia for making it possible. We are ready for next year. Date is set March 6-10, 2017 for 2017 Baja Walk 100.

FIRST ANNUAL BAJA WALK 100 MET WITH HUGE SUCCESS

The world's toughest cancer walk raises thousands for the fight against Cancer in Baja California, Mexico.


San Felipe, CA – The first annual Baja Walk 100, a 5-day, 100 mile walk in Baja California to raise funds and spread awareness of cancer in Baja, was met with widespread support and success this past week. A charity event to benefit the Cancer Society of San Felipe and the Mujeres Que Viven, AC programs, the Baja Walk raised $8,944 in donations and pledges while bringing together adventurers and walkers affected by cancer.

1-Mar: Packing Party - Bring your gear and get ready for the our epic adventure together. meet at San Felipe Storage at 1pm. You will get your number and Baja Walk 100 t-shirt.

2-Mar: THIS IS THE DAY - Baja Walk 100 Starting Line, meet at Cachanilla "Swap Meet at 6:30am. Walking at 7:00am

3-5 Mar:  The Baja Walk 100, we continue our epic adventure together.

6-Mar: Last day of the Baja Walk 100, it will be like all the other days with walking to the San Felipe Arches the FINISH LINE. Then at 4:00pm all walkers and supporters meet at the Arches for the last 1.5 mile for the MEMORIAL WALK to remember and support our loved ones with cancer - Invite Everyone! Gathering at Rositas Restaurant by 4:30pm for the Awards Party and the Big Check ceremony!

During the Baja Walk 100 a cool things happen; a close-knit community is created by all the people gathered together in honor of those that inspired us to be strong in life. Take the Baja Walk 100 challenge today! This is an all inclusive fully-supported challenge; with meals, snacks, drinks, camping area, nightly awards parties, a Baja Walk 100 t-shirt, priceless memories, and the knowledge knowing you are helping to fight cancer. It will be physically and mentally challenging to walk 20 miles (32 KM) over 5 days.
